Help Lou Become A Sound Healer
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Lou, I’m a singer with 11+ years experience working with children with disabilities and their families. I currently work as Family Support Advisor at a school for children with autism. I love the work I do with families and young people. I see sound healing as a natural combination of my two passions: exploring sound and helping others.
I recently started my Gong Practitioner Training Course at the College of Sound Healing. This training is CMA certified and by the end of the course in Oct 2021 I will have qualified as a specialist gong practitioner. The course leader, Sheila Whittaker is the leading gong master and teacher in the UK. This certification will allow me to take on clients as a sound therapist and provide sound baths and bespoke healing experiences.
Having completed the first weekend training course, I feel a deep sense of home and purpose exploring the healing properties of the Gong. I know that this qualification will help me provide much needed healing spaces for my community and the families that I work with. As a sound practitioner I want to be able to offer my services to everyone, especially those who wouldn’t normally have access to sound healing. I can already envision how beneficial these therapies would be for the families I currently work with.
I am the only black person on my course and if you have ever attended a sound bath you will know that these spaces are predominantly white. As a qualified sound practitioner I hope to change this by providing safe spaces for black and brown people to heal collectively. I also hope to inspire others who may want to embark on this journey, but do not feel that sound healing is for them, because of a lack of representation.
To qualify as a sound practitioner I need to complete 36 practise treatment case studies, including hosting my own gong bath. For this I need to have my own gongs. We have also been advised to practise regularly as there will be evaluations throughout the course. As you can imagine gongs are very, very expensive (D Double E Ikea voice!). So I’m launching this gofundme to help me purchase my gongs and other essential equipment that I need to qualify, please see below for a breakdown of the specific costs. Whilst I’ve paid for the course with my own funding, I need to have selected and purchased my gongs and other essential instruments and accessories by January 2021. Your support will take me one step closer to achieving my goal! Even if you can’t donate please do share with any and everyone, every little helps.
If you’ve managed to read this far, you are my people! Here’s a cheeky free download of one of my unreleased songs! Today - Enjoy!
Thanks for helping me on my journey to becoming a sound healer!
