Hi everyone
We’re a small family in Garden Valley, CA, and this is a hard post to make, but we’re asking for a little help for our dog, Lotus.
We recently found out that Lotus is heartworm positive, and it looks like she likely came to us from the shelter already carrying it. Our other dog, Magnolia, tested negative, which helped confirm this wasn’t something that happened under our care, but something she’s been quietly fighting since before she came home.
If you know our family, you know our house is a little chaotic, in the best way. Between our kids and all of our animals, it’s loud, messy, and full of love. Lotus is right in the middle of all of that.
She’s the kind of dog that just fits.
The one that’s always there, always part of everything.
Which is why this has been really hard.
Heartworm treatment is not simple. It’s a long process with medications, injections, and strict rest to keep her safe.
We’re committed to getting her through it, but the cost adds up quickly:
Initial testing: ~$180
Treatment and medications: ~$1,400
Follow-up care: ~$630
Total estimated: $2,200+
We’re going to do everything we can for her regardless, but if anyone is able to help, even a little, it would mean so much to our family.
If donating isn’t possible, sharing this helps more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for caring about Lotus
