My name is Carlotta “Lottie” Jackson-Kelly.
Just 8 months ago, I was homeless.
I’ve survived addiction, mental health struggles, trauma, and five literal near-death experiences since moving to Georgia. But I’m still here—for a reason.
I founded The Vital Defense & Prevention Foundation (VDP) to make sure more people get that same second chance.
We provide free Narcan, fentanyl test strips, harm reduction education, and life-saving outreach to people and families affected by the opioid crisis. Georgia’s overdose deaths have tripled in recent years—and too many young lives are being lost to fentanyl poisoning, especially when laced into marijuana and counterfeit pills.
We’re one of only 3 organizations in our area doing this work—and the only one offering free kits in bulk, in-person, and without barriers.
We’ve already trained community members, passed out hundreds of doses of Narcan, and completed harm reduction certifications.
But we need your help to grow.
We’re raising $5,000 to:
Purchase Narcan + test strips in bulk
Build and distribute life-saving kits
Launch Georgia’s first mobile harm reduction van (The Vital Van)
Finalize nonprofit admin & 501(c)(3) filing
Fund outreach events and trauma-informed peer education
Every dollar helps us reach someone in time.
Every donation is an act of harm reduction.
Every share could save a life.
I believe God and grit brought me back so I could bring others through.
Help me do that.
