Help Lorrie and Scott avoid homelessness

Donation protected
As neighbors and friends of Lorrie and Scott Nascene, we are asking for your financial support to help prevent Lorrie and Scott from becoming homeless. They need your help.

Lorrie and Scott have been married for 40 years and live in their family home, which has been in Scott’s family for 70 years. Scott is 68 years old and grew up in South Minneapolis. Lorrie is 64 years old, was born in St Cloud, lived in Duluth, and moved to South Minneapolis prior to junior high school.

Their financial issues stem primarily from recent health and employment challenges. Scott has been collecting Social Security since retiring due to health problems following two episodes of severe COVID. He suffers from the debilitating effects of long COVID, including shortness of breath and fatigue. Lorrie has COPD and has been out of work since June of 2023. Lorrie has applied for many positions and has been unable to secure a job. She is actively looking for work and seeking assistance to meet their financial obligations. Scott and Lorrie have no children to help them during these difficult times.

The Nascenes have a mortgage on their home due to buying out other family members. They have applied for financial assistance and relief at their mortgage company, utility companies, and government agencies. Scott and Lorrie received some relief and mortgage deferment through available programs. However, assistance and deferments have expired, and they have not been able to pay their monthly expenses, including their mortgage. If they do not pay their mortgage company $3300 by May 1, 2024, they will be evicted from their home of 35 years.

While we are hopeful some relief will come to help with the longer-term issues, there is an urgent need for $3300 to prevent eviction. All donations to this cause will be deposited directly to the mortgage company to address the immediate requirement of the mortgage company and pay down the mortgage.

Lorrie and Scott are valued and beloved neighbors and friends. Lorrie is an active member of our community, and her humor, comradery, thoughtfulness, care and the watchful eye she brings is all the community could hope for in a neighbor.

Thank you for helping during this difficult time. We hope to help these proud, long-term South Minneapolis residents live out the rest of their lives in this safe and caring community.

Thank you for your kind consideration!
