Help Lorraine Conquer Cancer

Our dear friend, family member and colleague Lorraine has been diagnosed with Gastric Cancer.
Lorraine is the proud mother of 4 children and devoted partner to her long time significant other. We all know her as a genuinely sweet and caring person. She has a passion for her work as a Registered Nurse in the Cancer centre at Trillium Health Partners. She is a proud Milton Mommy who will lend a hand to help other community members without a second thought. She often shares her misadventures of motherhood so it feels as though her family is our own. This diagnosis has come as a shock to Lorraine, her family and friends. Her prognosis is good and she is optimistic.
Earlier this year Lorraine noticed some subtle abdominal discomfort. She had a scope done and an ulcer was found. This ulcer was found to be benign at that time. She was re-scoped 2 months later but unfortunately this time the biopsies found cancer in her stomach. The consensus of the multi-disciplinary cancer team was for chemotherapy and surgery. Lorraine’s treatment details include 4 cycles of chemotherapy followed by the surgical removal of her cancer. After surgery she will require 4 more cycles of chemotherapy. Obviously Lorraine is unable to work during this time and her 15 weeks of sick benefits is almost exhausted. Her potential return to work date is May 2019. We do not want our dear friend and colleague to worry about anything else except getting better. Finances should not be something that she needs to worry about at this time. But, the reality is, things will be difficult financially for this family with only one income coming in. Not all medications are covered under her health benefits.
Those of you that know Lorraine, know what a beautiful person she is. She is the first to lend a hand....This time she need our help. Lorraine is a proud independent woman, but this cancer diagnosis will have significant financial implications. She and her family appreciate any help they receive.
