Help Lori's Mother-in-Law Save Her Beloved Chiweenie
Donation protected
My name is Lori and I am raising money to help my elderly 78-year-old mother-in-law pay for her dog’s emergency vet bills.
She was quietly walking her Chiweenie in the morning around her retirement community as she does every day. When she turned to go back home, she heard a large dog rushing her. Turns out that her back neighbor had gone to work and left her front door open. The lady’s very large pitbull charged her, and her Chiweenie put himself between her and the pitbull. The pitbull latched onto the Chiweenie’s throat. It took my mother-in-law and a neighbor trying to beat the dog off of the Chiweenie before it would let go.
The Chiweenie was rushed to the emergency vet where he had to stay for a minimum of two days for them to stabilize him. The Chiweenie ended up having a fractured skull, detached retina, mild brain damage, a small fracture in his leg, two large, very deep punctures in the throat, and his jaw crushed. He is now on an esophageal eating tube and will lose the eyesight in his eye. He is on a very expensive prescription diet and various medications. My mother-in-law is having severe anxiety and PTSD from experiencing the attack.
Animal control took two days before they came out to take statements and left the dog in the apartment. Instead of removing the dog from the premises, they are letting it quarantine in the apartment and it is allowed out to use the bathroom. Every time the dog barks, my mother-in-law starts shaking violently. The management company has this dog on its list of restricted breeds, yet the dog was living there. Neither the owner nor the property management have attempted to rectify the situation. My mother-in-law’s dog will be forever disfigured and will require ongoing vet visits and special care.
Any money raised will be used to pay for the emergency vet bills, prescriptions, specialized food, and followup vet visits, removal of esophageal tube.
