Help Lorinda through this battle

On Friday October 25, 2019 a night out with the girls turned into a devastating night for my cousin and her family. My cousin, decided she was going to take her daughter and some friends to haunted houses. They went to one haunted house and didn't really like it so decided to drive into town to look for a better one or something to help them enjoy the night. While driving down the highway a dog ran in front of my cousin Lorinda as she was driving, she did her best to avoid the dog but unfortunately she struck the dog. She couldn't leave the dog just laying there in the street. "If it was my dog I would want to know" she said to me when she told me of the accident. She went to the house to let them know of the tragic accident. A 23 year old girl who was pet sitting for her parents came out and to help the dog. While they were attending to the dog my 15 year old cousin-Kayden (Lorinda's daughter) and her friend were waving lights to let other drivers know they were there helping the lady and her dog. What happened next was devastating.

The 23 year old who was devastated about her dog was with her dog and Lorinda and another 15 year old were with her as well. Out of no where a driver of a truck came and did not slow down to the flashlights or the cars that had stopped to assist. The 23 year old girl was struck first (she also has a caring bridge page), next was the 15 year girl who was struck and thrown and wrapped in barn wire. The lady veered back and then struck Lorinda tossing her in the air. Kayden ran over to her mom where she was laying there unresponsive and unable to breathe. Kayden yelled for others to call 9-1-1 immediately. She then helped her mom sit up where she coughed up blood and was able to breath but the breathing was very shallow. Ambulance arrived- The 15 year old, the 23 year old and Lorinda were all rushed to the hospital.

Upon arriving at the hospital Lorinda was immediately in critical condition. Due to this many test were done and immediate critical care medical treatment was preformed on Lorinda. She had an orbital fracture, all of her ribs were fractured, arm was dislocated, numerous bruises and scraps and a laceration on her forehead where the skin needed to be pulled together in order to stitch up. This was not the end of horrific event. On Tuesday October 29th Lorinda was taken into surgery where metal plates were placed behind her ribs to avoid them puncturing her lungs and a ventilation tube was placed to assist her with her breathing since breathing on her own was very painful due to the amount of injuries to her ribs. She was then suppose to have surgery on her arm on October 30th but due to how much blood she had already lost she was unable to have the surgery at that time.

Lorinda is a fighter. The ventilation tube was taken out on November 3rd and slowly they are trying to ween her off of the numerous medication they have had her on for pain control. The road is not over for her. Although she has been able to get up and walk a little and things are improving daily the road to recovery will be a long one as she will need numerous therapy sessions and may still need surgeries to repair damages done due to the accident.

Lorinda is in-fact a fighter and continues to show progress and prove her strength daily. At this point is it unknown if the lady had insurance. Lorinda is a mother of two children Kayden who is 15 and Anker who is 12 her. This will inhibit her from working for sometime. It is unknown how long Lorinda will be out of work or what next week may bring as far as recovery but we ask for continues prayers and hope as her and her family fight this enormous fight. We will continue to keep everyone updated on her as much as possible.

We will have a fund raiser the first part of January to help Lorinda, Jimmie and the kids with expenses occurred during this tragic time and any help is much much appreciated.
