Lori Hoyt is a bright light in the world. A well-known and loved business owner and community member, Lori has had a long and successful career as a hairstylist and salon owner. Her energy is positive and magnetic and her laugh, infectious.
Diagnosed with stage four cancer in August 2025, Lori was about to start chemotherapy when she had a stroke that sent her to the hospital and then rehab.
Her family and friends are at the rehab facility daily, caring for her, cheering her on, and being as present as possible but she REALLY wants to come home and that’s where we would all like to see her.
Lori will need 24/7 care when she returns home which is not covered by insurance. She has not been able to work for several months and the financial burden of her current and extended care are far beyond what her family can bear.
Please help Lori get the treatment and care she needs to return home and continue her recovery!
BACKGROUND
Lori saw a doctor in August for a pain in her side. Scans revealed suspicious masses throughout her body, and several weeks later she received the devastating news that she has stage 4 cancer. What a shock!
Weeks of additional testing and appointments revealed more information and a treatment path that would give Lori a good quality of life while she lived with this cancer. There was a plan that she felt good about, and she was ready to begin.
Then, on September 15th, she had a stroke and was admitted to Yale New Haven Hospital. She spent several weeks in and out of Yale and is currently in a stroke rehab facility receiving intensive occupational and speech therapy.
Lori has two children who are at her side every possible moment, a loving and supportive family, a large group of friends, and many, many clients whom she cared for each day. We all want to see her heal from the stroke and return home as soon as possible.
Please help Lori get back home and continue on the road to recovery and treatment!
