Lori Pedrotte is known for being a kind, big hearted woman, who is constantly busy running around for work, doing real estate, or devoting time to her family (especially her grandkids). Summer of 2021, Lori started having increased pain and discomfort. Her family noticed that she was spending more time in bed, which was not her normal.
This pain eventually led Lori to an ER visit in September, where she was scheduled to see a specialist and received the diagnosis we never expected: Stage 4 Rectal Cancer. Lori not only has multiple masses in her rectum, but it has also spread to her liver and lungs. Lori’s medical team started a treatment plan immediately, which consisted of 3 weeks of radiation in attempt to shrink the largest mass and reduce her pain.
Although Lori is done with radiation now, she is still experiencing significant discomfort and pain, which has led to her having to file for disability because she is unable to work during this time. Even though her husband Tony is taking over the real estate as much as he can, it is still affecting their income. Tony has had to cut back on work as well in order to care for Lori, as she is often bed bound, and has transported her to all of her appointments.
Lori will be starting chemo on January 31st in Bad Axe. This could go on for months or years, as the goal is to continue chemo until she has two negative scans.
Our family is terrified of this diagnosis, but we all (including Lori) have relied on our faith in God to guide us through this journey and pray relentlessly for a miracle. We believe in the power of prayer and know that Lori has so much to live for, so we are nowhere near giving up. Lori has been fighting her heart out and has made significant lifestyle changes with her diet and has been researching all over to find a hope for a cure.
Lori was recently informed of a very successful and educated Naturopath Doctor who specializes in Cancer patients. Our family is feeling so hopeful after reading the amazing stories about this physician changing many cancer patient’s lives, so we made an appointment immediately. Unfortunately, this doctor will be very costly and it is not covered by insurance. Despite the cost, we know that this is in her best interest to use both holistic treatment and modern medicine combined to give her the greatest chance of conquering cancer.
Stage 4 Cancer is no joke. It is scary. It is potentially life threatening. It has caused our family a lot of stress, tears, and anxiety, but it has also brought us closer together and closer to God. Lori already has so much on her plate worrying about what is to come in this battle, so I as her daughter ask you to please have it in your heart to donate funds if you are able to. This money will be applied towards gas money and medical bills. Any amount is appreciated! If you are not financially able to contribute, we ask that you please add Lori to your prayer list.
Thank you so much to everyone who has provided support during this journey. God Bless. ❤️
