Please help Lori Bruzenas get her car back.

Shhhhhh, THIS IS A SECRET!!!

Hello! My name Sadie and I’m secretly fundraising for my dear friend and roommate, Lori Bruzenas. Most of you have either been served a drink or trained in jujitsu/self-defense by this incredible human.

Lori was recently involved in a violent “hit and run” close to our home in Oakland on Tuesday, October 4, 2022.

It was a 2018 Nissan Altima that Lori purchased in 2021. This was the first “new” car Lori had ever bought in her life. She loves and depends on this car daily and was very proud to have paid it off a couple of months before the accident. Unfortunately, she didn’t have uninsured motorist or collision coverage, so the responsibility has fallen on her to pay out-of-pocket for the damages, which were quoted at around $10,000-$14,000. The option to fix the car was not an easy one. The old saying, “You can buy a new car for that price,” doesn’t exactly stand true in this semi-post-pandemic world. Luckily, she only suffered some relatively minor aches and pains due to her quick martial arts reflexes when the accident happened; otherwise, she would have suffered much worse, and there would have been no car to fix.

Aside from the accident, Lori has endeared many other emotional hardships this year. Beginning with the death of her sister, followed by her father's passing soon after. She has also lost a few close friends during this time.

Lori has helped our community with her self-defense classes and is loved and respected by many in the BJJ and bartending worlds. Most of you know her as someone who would go to the ends of the earth to help and fight for you.

This time it’s our turn to help and fight for her.

Lastly, Lori hates the idea of asking people for money, no matter how dire the cause is. So, I am asking everyone to PLEASE KEEP THIS OFF SOCIAL MEDIA and not mention this if you see her. Together, we can make her world a little brighter and show her how much she is loved and appreciated.
