Hello, I am Mary Alice, I am raising money for my daughter Lori and her husband Dave Lopez.

2024 started with Lori's father's hospitalization to be treated for 3 types of cancer. Newly approved chemo treatment did not work. He was sent home on hospice. Lori made daily 60 mile trips to care for him. His wife depended upon her.

Dave hurt his back, sprained ankle, had surgery for insect bite infection that would not heal. Biopsy did not determine cause. He may need more treatment.

This means he was out of work, on disability. Lori had a mishap with finger requiring treatment. They have two girls in college.

Now Dave was in a bad car accident. Concussion, whiplash, and more. Due to his other issues, he was not able to work his part time job.

The car is totaled, his truck needs repair, but with lack of income, it has sat for months.

Any little bit you can help will be sincerely appreciated. Thank you.
a note from Lori
Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you so much for supporting us during this difficult time. Asking for help does not come easy for me because I always see myself as the helper of others.

I wanted to give you an update, Dave is slowly recovering from the accident, he is still in pain and just taking it day by day. The car is totaled and because it was used and paid off, I didn't have full coverage on it, so we are not going to get anything for it.
We do have his truck that has been running poorly, but he was able to get it fixed enough to have a vehicle to drive for now.
As far as the year we've had, it has been so difficult. In January my dad got sick and we thought it was just pneumonia, it turned out being Stage 4 Lung cancer. I was there through his entire battle, every doctor and chemo appointment. Then when he finally went on hospice, I spent as much time with him as I could, until he passed away on June 9. I was away from my own family a lot since he lived over an hour away, I also stayed with him during his final weeks.
Dave has just been a mess, he had multiple back injuries this year and some random crazy arm issues. He developed multiple lumps on his arms. After multiple rounds of antibiotics, steroids, and other treatments he had 9 biopsies. They know he has necrotizing granulomas, but still are unsure of the cause. He has been to multiple doctors and specialists and they continue to rule things out, but have no clear diagnosis. His next appointment is in December to a Rheumatologist.

So as my mom said, he used to do part time work at selling beer at baseball and football games, also concerts and our local music festival. So he was unable to do that at all this year.

We will continue to move forward and stay as positive as we can, because that is all anyone can really do. Be kind to each other.

Thank you again, we love you. The Lopez Family
