Lorenzo Thompson is Kristin’s best friend and chosen family, someone whose warmth and generosity have touched countless lives. Lorenzo came to the United States legally from Jamaica in 2021, seeking safety from life-threatening abuse. Since arriving, he has worked tirelessly to build a stable life, following every legal step toward citizenship. He has no criminal record. No parking tickets. He holds a valid work permit, has a pending case with US immigration and is a dedicated Flight Attendant for a beloved airline. Despite his commitment to doing things the right way, Lorenzo was unexpectedly detained by ICE on July 14th after returning back from a work trip. This has put his career, stability, and future in jeopardy.

The mounting legal expenses are overwhelming. Funds raised will go directly towards attorney fees, filing fees, administrative fees, bond fees, transportation from the detention center, Rent/bill payments and other costs necessary to secure Lorenzo’s release and ensure he has the best legal representation possible while keeping up with his bills as he is unable to work while in the detention center. Funds from this campaign will be paid directly to his attorney, court clerks, bond fees (if granted), his leasing office, and other miscellaneous home bills. Any other left over funds will be given to Lorenzo directly via bank transfer. Lorenzo has always been the first to help others, never asking for anything in return. Now, in his time of need, Kristin and those who care about him are asking for support to help him fight for his release and the life he’s worked so hard to build.
