Lorenzo's Journey to the Optimist North American Championship
Dear Friends and Supporters,
My name is Lorenzo Laramore, and I am a 7th-grade student at Deep Creek Middle School in Eleuthera. I'm reaching out to you today to share an exciting opportunity that has come my way. But first, let me tell you a little about myself.
In 2021, my family moved to Eleuthera, and it was here that I discovered my true passion: sailing. From the moment I stepped foot on a boat, I knew I had found something special. Since then, I have been dedicated to honing my skills and pushing myself to new limits. Sailing has become more than just a hobby—it's my calling.
With the guidance and support of my incredible coaches, Martin and Carlin, I've made remarkable progress. They saw potential in me that I never knew existed. They encouraged me to never give up and to keep pushing forward, no matter the challenges. Their belief in me inspired a dream—the dream of representing my country on a global stage.
Today, I stand before you with immense gratitude and a humble request. I have been given the opportunity to compete at the Optimist North American Championship in Antigua this July, representing the Bahamas. It is an honor and a privilege to have qualified for this prestigious international event.
However, participating in such an esteemed competition requires financial support. The total cost per sailor is approximately $5000, which covers registration, accommodation, boat charter, meals, flights, and coaching. It's a substantial amount, and I humbly ask for your help to make this dream a reality.
Your contribution, no matter the size, will directly support my journey to the championship. By investing in my participation, you are investing in a young sailor's aspirations, dreams, and future. Together, we can show the world what the Bahamas and its talented youth can achieve.
To make a contribution, please fill out the form below. You can transfer funds directly to the Bahamas Sailing Association at the account details provided, or if you prefer, cash donations can be given to Erin Tomlinson in Nassau or Martin in Eleuthera.
You can also donate with credit card through this GoFundMe campaign.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining me on this incredible journey. Together, let's set sail towards new horizons!
With sincere appreciation,
Lorenzo Laramore
