Help Loren and Carol heal

Hi - I'm Lynelle Trigalet. My siblings and I along with our families are raising money to help our brother Loren and sister-in-law Carol and their children heal.

On March 3rd, Carol was stabbed by her daughter. Due to the sensitive and triggering nature, we will not be sharing more details.  

 

Were it not for a few good Samaritans who risked their lives, the first responders, lifesaving blood, the airlift support team, and the emergency trauma surgeons our dear sweet Carol would not be with us. 

 

Carol and Loren's needs are many and enormous. 

 

Carol was released from the Altoona Trauma and Rehab Hospital 16 days after the incident occurred but she still has a long road to recovery ahead of her. Nearly every weekday she is at a doctor's appointment, going to therapy for her shoulder, individual counseling, family therapy, or seeing a different therapist for her hand. Carol has another surgery scheduled to have a lot of embedded glass removed from her foot. There is also talk about an additional surgery on her hand. 

While it is still too soon to know the extent of their medical expenses, they have been told that the airlift to Altoona hospital is not covered by insurance and to expect that bill to be around $50,000. 

Carol owns and operates a Dairy Queen. There is $10,000 worth of fixed expenses ( rent/DQ royalties/electric/propane/Comcast) each month at the Dairy Queen. The DQ has been closed for an entire month and so in addition to Carol's loss of wages, she was also faced with these fixed expenses without the income to pay them.  Her adult children have recently reopened the DQ on the weekends to hopefully generate enough income to cover the fixed expenses moving forward until Carol would be well enough to determine what she wants to do with the business.   

We as a family are committed to loving, forgiving, healing, and being restored. We are dedicated to making sure that crime and trauma don’t get the last chapter, but rather a whole new more beautiful ending gets written in our story and that  God is glorified through it all. 

This means that while Loren and Carol are hurting, they are choosing to love their daughter unconditionally and are communicating with her regularly. For those of you, who like us, are unaware of the prison system, you pay for every communication whether a phone call or an email. Both parties must pay to communicate with each other. This is yet another unexpected ongoing expense for Loren and Carol for the foreseeable future.   
 
** Please note that we as a family dearly love our niece/cousin/daughter and freely and openly use her name in our circle. We are all very aware of a deeper pain she was dealing with prior to this crime. For her privacy and protection, I have refrained from using her name here.
