Help Loren and Callie Heal: Support Their Recovery Journey

Hey folks near and far.

I’m Loren. I’m a pet parent, massage therapy student, soccer enthusiast and inclusion advocate, and community connector—currently serving as Manager Liaison for the LGBTQ+ soccer club, NetrippersFC. Over the past year, I’ve been navigating life’s twists and turns—mostly unemployed, job hunting, and trusting the process while building deeper roots in my community and safer soccer space for all.

Life’s thrown me a few unexpected curveballs in the past couple weeks.

First, my sweet, round rescue pup Callie—affectionately known as my "potato with legs"—suffered dual CCL ruptures in her back legs. This condition required surgery. Her case was urgent enough to move her to the top of the waitlist… which also doubled the cost.

Just two days later, I was involved in a hit-and-run car accident with an uninsured driver as I left school.

Thankfully, I walked away okay—but my car didn’t. Now I’m juggling surgery costs, recovery care for Callie, and my car’s deductible, all while trying to stay afloat financially.

Frustratingly, Callie was also attacked by another dog while we went on one of her longer walks now that she’s two weeks post op. And because she’s healing, she couldn’t escape and the dog caught her by the neck and face. She’s mostly okay, but we had to go back to the emergency vet to get meds, cleaning of the wound, and assess her legs.

The breakdown of immediate needs:

    •    $5,500 – Callie’s surgery and vet medical costs

    •    $1,000 – Recovery essentials: rehab, follow-ups, support gear

    •    $1,000 – Car deductible to get safely back on the road

This has all been humbling, to say the least. I believe in community, in kindness, and in the power of showing up for one another. If you’re able to help—whether it’s $5, $50, or simply sharing this with someone who might—please know how deeply it’s appreciated.

Callie deserves the chance to run (lol, IE meander-sniff, and have zoomies) and play again without pain. I deserve to get to school and work safely. Your support brings us closer to healing—physically, emotionally, and financially.
