Hi everyone, this cheeky handsome little boy is Lorcán. He is 4 years old and currently battling Leukemia.
In January 2024 at just 2 years old Lorcán was sadly diagnosed with (ALL) Leukemia. After 20 months of bravely ongoing weekly treatments in both Crumlin and Drogheda hospital, doctors have recently told his family that Lorcán has unfortunately relapsed.
After being so positive, resilient and strong this has come as a heartbreaking blow to his Mammy Abbie and Daddy Oisin and all of Lorcán’s family and friends.
Lorcán’s doctors have now told his parents that the next course of treatment is a Bone Marrow Transplant which is unfortunately not available in Ireland. A place for the procedure has become available at a hospital in Glasgow and in late November, Lorcán and Abbie are set to travel there for the rest of his treatment. Lorcán’s big sister Alissa who is only 6, has recently been tested to see if she is a match for the transplant. She may also be joining them straight away and could face her own little journey. Her test results will be back soon. If Alissa is not a match a Donor will be found by the hospital. As a family this means It will be a few months of traveling to and from Glasgow for Abbie, Oisin, Alissa and other family members whom need to help form a bubble of support during this intense treatment as Lorcán will be in isolation for approximately 100 days after the procedure and furthermore for his ongoing checkups.
We are now setting up this GoFundMe in support of Lorcán and his family and their even more difficult journey ahead. Up until now as well as the emotional stress, the financial strain has taken its toll. We are now reaching out to our kindhearted community in the hopes that any small donation may help to ease any financial worries that the family may now incur.
All remaining focus can and will be on caring for Lorcán during this difficult period as a family and their journey to Lorcán “Ringing the Bell”
Lorcán is a smart, strong, witty little boy. He has taken all of the treatments in his stride and has been such a warrior from the beginning showing unbelievable strength and resilience.
He has Hickman lines fitted into his chest and an NG tube in his nose for his medications and nutrients and he never questions them.
He calls them “his best friends” and has named them, Freddie and Sucky.
His Mammy Abbie administers treatments to him daily and he just lets it happen. Nurses are always in awe of him.
His childhood has been restricted already in so many ways with him missing out on many hobbies and activities that other children do and of course he’s missed out on his pre school years. His sister has been a rock for him and he loves playing with her. Hopefully now with all of your help and prayers , he will remain his strong self and fly through this new challenge he is facing like the Warrior that he is.
Thank you all so far , for Your Kindness, Love and Support they mean the world to Lorcán and his family as they navigate through this challenging time and also for sending Well Wishes , Blessings and Prayers for Lorcán.
From the bottom of our hearts..
Thank you all so much.
Any donations and prayers are greatly appreciated.
With Gratitude and Love,
Lorcán, Abbie , Oisin and Alissa Xx
