Lawrence "Lonnie" Johnson is facing a critical health challenge that has deeply affected our family. Lonnie needs a fem-fem artery bypass surgery as soon as possible to prevent life-threatening complications like heart attack or kidney failure. His left leg arteries are over 85% blocked, and his right leg arteries are a little over 20% blocked, which has made it extremely difficult for him to walk and caused frequent, painful leg cramps. Because of his condition, he’s only been able to work part-time, and as the main source of income for our household, this has made it difficult to keep up with bills and daily expenses. The urgency of his surgery is compounded by the fact that we need to pay a significant amount up front just to get him the care he needs.
Lonnie will be off work for two to three months after surgery, and during that time, we’re especially worried about keeping up with utilities, groceries, and other household costs. Our family has already faced major financial strain after I had a serious liver, gallbladder, and intestine surgery last year, which made it even harder to stay afloat. Despite these challenges, Lonnie has remained hopeful and determined to recover, and we’re doing our best to support each other through this difficult period.
We’re asking for help so Lonnie can get the surgery he urgently needs and so our family can manage basic expenses while he heals. Any support will make a real difference in helping us get through this crisis and back on our feet.
