Help Lonnie get back into permanent housing.

This has been a difficult step to take — asking for help. As most of my fans, friends, and family know, the last couple of years have been very hard on me. Honestly, it’s the toughest experience I’ve ever been faced with. Trying to navigate this with a life long disability on top of it, makes everything more frightening then anyone could imagine.

Anyone who knows me and the comedy I perform on stage knows I tell the truth and try to be as honest as I can, regardless of the raw emotions that surface from whatever I’m discussing. So, how about I start there.

As of last week, I’ve been displaced. I tried for the last several years to get out from underneath the enormous debt of past rent I’ve accumulated, going all the way back to the days of Covid. At the time, the state covered almost all of my back rent caused by the pandemic, but the government program didn’t cover it all. It’s something I couldn’t recover from, especially when my roommate moved out without warning at the beginning of 2023. That pretty much did me in.

I finally had to move out on the 7th of February, and I’ve been lodging at a local hotel since. This is the first time I can say I have ever been homeless in my life. Factoring in my disability. Let’s be realistic. I don’t see how I can honestly survive if all my options dry up leaving me with only one choice. Being put out on the streets. Even getting to a shelter would be all but impossible.

I really struggle with organizing a GoFundMe campaign, but the only way I could get myself to agree with doing one is if I asked for a limited amount of help for a specific purpose and a limited amount of time. I have a plan, and I intend on making certain I follow through with it.

What I’m hoping to get help with is $800 initially to help pay for my hotel expenses and temporary lodging for the next week and a half while I get permanent housing in one of the several programs I am signed up for. I have already used up all of the money I had in the bank to get through the past week. I have enough now for one more night. After that, I’m really out of viable options. Getting support now is vital.

On Monday, I am meeting with Impact NW, and they’ll be starting the process to help get me placed into a new apartment with an adjusted monthly budget I can manage. After that, I can put this crisis behind me and begin to rebuild my life. It’s my hope that another week of lodging is all I’ll need until this program can help get me relocated back into a stable living situation.

The last time I was in a circumstance like this was 14 years ago. I never was this close to being on the streets, but I was able to get into a new apartment within 30 days. It took 14 years and a pandemic to put myself at risk of being homeless.

What I’m saying is: I have a plan, and any donation to help me will get used to keep me in a safe temporary place until my long-term plan can be implemented. After that, I won’t have any problems with housing again, and I can begin to rebuild for my next chapter.

That’s pretty much where I am, and any help I get will get me closer to my goal.

Much love to all of you who have supported me over the years.

See you all on the other side.
