Hello, my name is Victoria Furman, and I am raising funds to support my nephew, Lonney Newton, and his children. It is with deep sadness that I come before family and friends. On November 21, 2025, our sweet Monica left this world.

Three years ago, Monica woke up one morning… and everything had changed. Her personality, her thoughts — something was suddenly, drastically different. Lonney knew immediately that something was wrong. He spent over a year pleading for help, searching for answers, and fighting for his wife. That day marked the beginning of a of a journey that forever changed their family.

Nearly two years ago, Monica was in a serious car accident that left her with severe injuries. At the hospital, doctors discovered a brain aneurysm. It’s unclear whether the aneurysm was caused by the accident or had already been present — but if it was already there, it may explain the dramatic changes she had experienced long before the crash.

Following the accident, Monica endured two brain surgeries, countless transfers between medical facilities, and months of hospitalization. Eventually, a doctor called Lonney in and delivered the heartbreaking news:

Monica would never regain the ability to eat on her own, walk again, or return to any sense of normal life. She had become resistant to antibiotics and developed pneumonia that could no longer be treated. Doctors sent her home, giving her only weeks to live.

But Lonney, the children, and our incredible niece Faith gave her something far more powerful — devoted, round-the-clock love and care. Because of their unwavering dedication, Monica lived an entire year beyond what doctors expected.

Monica was strong. Resilient. Courageous. She fought long and hard. And though she is no longer here, she truly won — because she fought every battle with strength, grace, and love. She was beautiful, funny, and cherished by everyone who knew her, both in sickness and in health.

Now, Lonney and the children are left to pick up the pieces and completely rebuild their lives. This season will be incredibly heavy for them.
