Hi, my name is Larry and I am the owner of ACRS Crew Services here in Long Beach, CA. I have built this business from the ground up, alongside the support of my family. We are looking to raise $20,000 in order to rebuild, repair, de-vandalize, and get us back into business.
My business provides a full array of services specifically for seafarers that work on cargo and cruise ships as well as passengers and locals. We aimed at providing practical services to the crew members who are here temporarily such as communicating with their love ones in 3rd world countries to internet access, do their groceries and meals at the store, shipping, money remittance. We also provide tours to iconic places in the Southern California region.
My business was more than just a source of revenue. It really was a community. Many of my customers became my close friends. We worked hard to adapt to different specific needs that our customers faced. For instance, we would shop for items their family's needs and send it back home while they were at sea.
The store was looted on May 31, 2020. Everything was completely vandalized, ransacked, and destroyed. Many of the computers, inventories, electronic equipment, cash safe, and more were either stolen and/or destroyed. Even items that I had bought to be shipped on behalf of my customers were stolen as well.
I wholeheartedly agree with the protests and understood that this type of civil unrests is necessary for real social change. I also understand the pain and suffering our community is feeling.
However, I just want to be able to get back and rebuild my business to be able to take care of my family and rejoin the community.
