Hi everyone,
My name is Kennedi and I am trying to raise money to help my 3 year old dog Lolita receive the life-saving care she needs.
Lolita was rushed to the emergency room twice last week due to throwing up, diarrhea, lethargy, and loss of appetite. Though the first ER doctor said that her vitals looked good and sent us home with medicine for possible parasites for bacteria in her stomach, Lolita would not eat so I was unable to give her any of the medicine. I was forced to rush her to another ER the next day, once again they told me her vitals looked good, though all of her symptoms had only gotten progressively worse. Lolita was throwing up every hour, refused to eat, was sleeping constantly, pooping all blood, and was just generally not her usual self. I was able to get an appointment with her regular veterinary center, we did blood tests, x-rays, and more but the tests were inconclusive. Her intestines are extremely inflamed, she's severely dehydrated, her stomach was not making any noise or moving anything through it. There is a possible obstruction in her intestines and she may need surgery to get it removed. Her protein levels are dangerously low and continue to drop. She is in a lot of pain. We are still waiting on her fecal test results, but those may not come in until Tuesday or Wednesday. That will tell us if it is a possible virus attacking her system. She will be receiving an emergency ultrasound today, as all her symptoms have not been improving. I was able to visit her in the hospital on Saturday and she did not look good, she was very lethargic and I was still unable to get her to eat. Sunday I visited her again and she had more energy and seemed to be doing a bit better, I was finally able to get her to eat a cup of boiled chicken as they had given her an appetite stimulant, the first time she had eaten in 5 days. Though she finally ate, her protein levels are still not improving and are at a very dangerous level. She may need to be taken to a specialty center.
It has been very hard, especially not knowing what is going on with her, but hopefully we will be able to get some answers soon. She's already had two emergency room visits. That in addition to the blood work, x-rays, constant IV's, overnight hospital care, constant checks and monitoring, emergency ultrasound, and more the bills are just stacking up. As Lolita has never had any health concerns or issues, I unfortunately never got pet insurance for her, a stupid decision on my part but it's too late to get it now to cover the costs. I am a server who has really been struggling financially this year and your donations would help me immensely, as I don't have the funds to cover her care. Right now I am looking at about 10 thousand dollars, but with more potential hospitalization dates, a potential specialty center care, and maybe even surgery, it could be 15 thousand or more.
I will continue to keep everyone updated on how Lolita is doing.
Please consider donating so that my baby girl can continue to live a long healthy life. She is the most kind-hearted, sweet, funny, smart, and loving dog. She truly loves everyone and everything, she's so full of life, love for the world and the adventures we go on. She is my emotional support animal and has gotten me through some of the hardest times in my life and I cannot imagine living my life without her. I've raised her since she was a tiny puppy and want to have so many more years to spend with my special girl. There are so many people waiting for her to get better and I would be forever grateful if you would be willing to donate, even 5-10 dollars helps immensely.
Thank you so much,
With love, Lolita's mom Kennedi
