Hello friends,
It is with great reluctancy that I share some news about my dog Lola. If you know me, you know that Lola is my best friend. When I adopted her 3.5 years ago, my life changed for the better, and I have loved every second of being with her.
This past Wednesday (2/5), Lola became very ill and started vomiting several times a day. She was very lethargic, clearly uncomfortable, her body had almost constant shaking, and she had zero appetite. This was so unlike her, because she is such a healthy pup who loves to eat and kiss your face nonstop.
I brought her to the vet on Thursday where they ran tests and she tested positive for pancreatitis. She was given anti-nausea and pain medication, along with a bland diet. She did not eat anything over the next few days and continued to vomit multiple times a day. She had not gotten better and started heavy breathing with panting.
Yesterday (Sat, 2/8) I brought her to the local emergency clinic. They decided to hospitalize her and conduct blood tests and x-rays. In her lung x-ray, they found traces of pneumonia, and in her abdomen x-ray, they found a foreign body that was causing a major obstruction. The doctors recommended emergency surgery to remove the foreign body. Her pneumonia made the surgery and recovery high-risk as well.
She underwent the surgery late Saturday night where the doctor removed a part of a sock that was lodged in her small intestine. Her small intestine was extremely bruised from the pressure, and her recovery is bound to be long as this has taken quite a toll on her body.
All of these veterinary costs have put a quite a burden as I have already racked up a bill of $10,000 that is due to rise because of her high-risk recovery. She will be hospitalized in the ICU at least 2 more nights.
Anything you can contribute, large or small, prayers or positive vibes, to help my best friend Lola and me, is immensely appreciated.
Thank you, all. I will keep you updated on her continued recovery.
