Hello friends and family. As some of you may know, I am a wildland firefighter on the San Bernardino National Forest. Very recently, I was coming down the dirt road behind my station and noticed a stray puppy walk into an abandoned building. She looked malnourished and had been attacked by what I assume was a coyote. One of the wounds had punctured her neck. That’s when I realized the building was her final place to rest. I was not going to let her die. I carried her down the hill, cleaned her up as best as I could, and fed her. It was not until I took her home that I realized her wounds were infected. I felt a responsibility to give her the best care possible, so my fiancée took her to the vet. We were completely unaware of the financial impact we would be enduring. The animal hospital did not advise us of costs prior to the procedures they would perform. Lola is currently making a strong recovery, which we are eternally grateful for. We are just asking for any kind of donations to help pay for her surgery.
