Lola & Maa Yoga Need Our Help
Donation protected
You may have heard that Maa Yoga, the amazing yoga studio in Deep Cove, will close its doors on September 29th. This is unfortunate news for the whole community because Maa Yoga has provided health, well-being, peace, joy, and unity.
For years, Lola, the owner of Maa Yoga Studio, has given everything possible to create a space that nurtures, heals, and strengthens our community. Despite facing extraordinary challenges—including the global pandemic, business lockdowns, and personal health struggles—she has fought tirelessly to keep the studio open for all of us.
Lola's Journey
Lola bought Maa Yoga Studio in 2020, just before COVID-19 changed our world. She faced overwhelming odds from the beginning, including government restrictions and lockdowns, despite meeting business payment commitments. Through it all, she used every resource at her disposal to keep the space open, offering a place of peace, wellness, and connection when it was most needed.
More recently, she has been in negotiations for the lease renewal since October 2023, which gradually left her unable to offer the long-term memberships that form the studio's financial backbone, coupled with the financial strain of summer months. Despite this, Lola held on, hoping to continue providing yoga, meditation, and holistic healing in this beloved location. Now, the landlord has a different vision for the space.
A Personal Battle Won, Yet Ongoing Challenges
While managing the business, Lola faced an even greater personal challenge. In the past year, she underwent four surgeries in her victorious fight against breast cancer. Though she is recovering and determined to come back stronger, the toll of her health battles, combined with the ongoing financial strain, has made it difficult for her to take the rest she desperately needs.
Now, with Maa Yoga Studio's future uncertain and the business no longer able to generate income, Lola is struggling to meet her financial obligations, including business loans. The reality is that she never recovered the investment she made in purchasing Maa Yoga. Not only that but for a long time, she has had to put in additional capital to maintain this space that brings so many positive things to the community.
She has always been there for our community; now it's our turn to support her.
How You Can Help
Lola needs our help lifting the financial burden off her shoulders so she can regroup and fully recover. Any donation, regardless of size, will make a meaningful impact and help her find a path forward through these tough times.
Lola needs our support to:
• Cover part of the loans she has taken to maintain Maa Yoga over these years.
• Give her a break to focus on her physical and mental health and move forward.
• Find a new home for Maa Yoga that suits Lola's current needs.
Any contribution is welcome. Let's open our hearts and spirits to help Lola, who has given us so much through Maa Yoga regarding health and well-being and return to her what she needs most: support, peace of mind, encouragement, and joy.
If you don't know Maa Yoga, we recommend you visit the studio at 489 Dollarton Hwy in Deep Cove, North Vancouver, and take advantage of all the promotions until September 29th. You will be amazed by the oasis of peace, the Maa Yoga team, the good energy, and the health benefits it generates. We are sure you'll love supporting this cause.
