A Season of Heartbreak and Hope
The last three months have been a constant journey of hope and heartbreak for our family. For the past twelve weeks, we fought tirelessly to save our beloved pet hen, Beauty. She developed a tumor that grew so fast it eventually began to crush her lungs, and we did everything possible—multiple medications, specialized treatments, and palliative care—to keep her comfortable.
Sadly, despite our best efforts and £400 in veterinary costs over those three months, we had to say a devastating goodbye and have her put to sleep last week.
Lola’s New Beginning
Amidst our care for Beauty, we rescued our dog, Lola, just three months ago. Our only goal was to give her the "better life" she deserves—one full of comfort, love, and easy breaths.
This week, Lola went in for a surgery to help her finally breathe properly (stenotic nares) and to be spayed. However, while she was on the operating table, the vet discovered a tumor on her shoulder (suspected mast cell tumor).
Mast Cell Tumors are unpredictable and need to be removed surgically as soon as possible, then sent to a lab for "grading" to see if further treatment like chemotherapy is needed. The vets have already taken a small biopsy to be sent off to confirm. We are desperate to get this out of her body before it has a chance to spread.
Why We Need Your Help
After fighting so hard for Beauty for three months, hearing that Lola now has a growth of her own was a massive shock. To ensure Lola stays healthy and to get the answers we need, she requires an urgent surgery to remove the tumor and send it off for lab results.
The total cost for her spay, her breathing surgery, and this unexpected tumor removal comes to £1000.
Following so closely behind the emotional and financial costs of Beauty’s care, it is a bill we cannot manage alone.
Our Promise to Lola
Lola has brought so much light to our home since we rescued her. We promised her a life of health and happiness, and we aren't ready to let a tumor take that away.
If you can spare anything at all to help us cover her surgery, we would be so deeply grateful. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing Lola’s story. We just want our girl to have the long, healthy life we promised her when we brought her home.
Thank you so much for your kindness, your shares, and for standing by our family during this incredibly difficult time.
