Hi friends,
Lokni is our four year old puppy at heart. We adopted him in 2021 and from the minute we met him knew he was part of the family, and ever since he does nearly everything with us. He is an active, curious, intelligent boy and we are so grateful that he found his way to us. He loves to hike miles and miles, zip up and down the beach, play with his friends, and hop around in the snow.
He had been displaying a slight limp after active days and the vet suggested he may have a tear in his CCL, a somewhat common injury in large breeds, especially in dogs who are very active. When this was confirmed and we found out that the treatment is TPLO surgery, we immediately said we were going to do it. The surgery costs $5,000 and while we fortunately have pet insurance, the out of pocket cost remains significant for us. Lokni is expected to make a full recovery, getting him back to his previous activity levels so that he can be our hiking buddy, my running partner, enjoy the beach like he used to, and play with his friends.
We can't imagine him having to live a life where he can't do the things that make him happy, and know that the surgery will improve his quality of life and allow him to maintain the level of activity that he needs and loves. We don't like asking for money and know that finances are tight for many right now. Any amount is deeply appreciated and makes a difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read- we hope you like his ears as much as we do!
With love and gratitude,
Lokni, Chris, and Stefanie
