Hello everyone. Thank you for taking a look at our fundraiser. We are only asking for $5-10 from as many people as possible to provide cancer treatment for Loki. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this with your friends so we can reach more people.

My wife and I have rescued several animals over the years. This year alone, we've covered medical expenses for diabetes, infections, and emergency surgery for one cat who ate rubber flooring. We've always funded their care ourselves, but this new challenge to provide cancer treatment to one of our cats is beyond what we can handle.

Our 9 year old Loki has developed an injection site sarcoma likely from his last rabies vaccine. This is something that happens with 1 in 10,000 cats and will eventually take his life. The tumor is located between his shoulder blades and is currently about the size of a 50 cent piece. Luckily, we have caught it early enough that we can treat it and prognosis is good for at least 3 more years before the cancer may eventually return.

Unfortunately, the treatment costs amount to over $23,000 for the surgery and radiation therapy necessary to achieve this prognosis. We are still working to pay off from the other care we have provided to our cats and so this is simply beyond us.

We're exploring every option including grants and loans to provide the care, but our time is limited before this type of cancer will grow to eventually become too much for Loki to take. He is currently doing well, apparently unaware of the threat beneath his skin, but we do not know how long that will last.

Loki is a special cat to us. My wife first rescued him while I was away for a military training. The first time he saw me he came running to me and since then he has claimed me as his favorite person to lay on.

He has also become a special buddy to my great niece who has had to overcome a lot in her young life. When my niece comes over to play, Loki is inseparable from her. He joins in her tea parties, plays house with her dolls, and has been a genuine comfort for her during her recovery and growth.
