Help Loki &Gnocchi Recover From Life-Threatening Emergencies

Donation protected
Hi everyone, I am raising funds for my two cats, Loki and Gnocchi, who both recently went through serious, unexpected, and life-threatening medical emergencies. What started with one cat quickly spiraled into both of them needing emergency procedures, and the complications over the past few weeks have been overwhelming medically, emotionally, and financially.

Loki had his first urinary blockage back in June. After the emergency procedure to unblock him, he was diagnosed with Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD), a painful condition that can be caused by stress, inflammation, crystals, or a mix of factors. His vets believed his blockage was stress-induced, and with the right urinary prescription diet, medications, and stress management, he was expected to do well.

Because Gnocchi is Loki’s littermate, and FLUTD has a strong genetic component, both cats were placed on preventative prescription diets and medications to reduce the risk of future episodes.

Unfortunately, six months later, Loki suddenly showed signs of another blockage. He was rushed to the ER again, had to be unblocked a second time, and ultimately needed a perineal urethrostomy (PU) surgery; an amputation to widen his urethra so he wouldn’t continue experiencing life-threatening obstructions. Since the cause appeared to be stress-related again, Loki was also diagnosed with Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), a severe inflammatory bladder condition that flares unpredictably.

Since his PU surgery, Loki has had far more complications than anyone anticipated. He has been hospitalized three more times and has struggled for nearly three weeks with bladder bleeding, urinary incontinence, painful flare-ups, and constant discomfort. I’ve had to monitor him around the clock with changing his bedding 8–10 times a day, giving multiple medications, and keeping him safely confined to a playpen to heal.

The extreme stress in the household, combined with the hereditary risk, triggered Gnocchi’s first major urinary blockage during these complications. He was rushed to the vet, had to be unblocked, hospitalized for two days, and was diagnosed with FLUTD as well. Thankfully, he has recovered, but this confirmed that both brothers are affected by the same underlying condition.

Both of my boys now require ongoing prescription diets, medications, enrichment, and constant monitoring. I’m working full-time while attending graduate school, and I’ve completely exhausted my savings and credit cards trying to keep up with the medical bills. Although they both have pet insurance, Loki’s coverage maxed out back in June, so nearly all of his recent care, along with part of Gnocchi’s, has come out-of-pocket.

The good news is that both Loki and Gnocchi are finally stable and healing, and if everything continues smoothly, they should not need any additional surgeries or major interventions. We are finally reaching the other side of this nightmare, but the financial aftermath is far more than I can manage alone.

I love these two more than anything. Any help, no matter the amount, truly makes a difference. Thank you so much for your kindness, your support, and for taking the time to read our story. It means everything to me.
