Hello friends and family and strangers, as you may or may not know, my twin sister, Lois, had an above knee amputation of her left Leg on Tuesday 10/10/23 to cut out a localised cancer called a round cell sarcoma. This has allowed the surgeons to cut out all the cancer. She still has to undergo chemotherapy which will start December. Her recovery will involve extensive rehab and getting fitted with a prosthesis and Lois is aiming to be able to walk by Christmas.
If you are feeling generous and would love to show your support, any financial contribution would be so appreciated and please share this post. This would help with private rehab costs (physiotherapy), specialist consultation fees, transport fees, equipment (wheelchair, walkers, etc.), medicine costs, living modifications (rails, shower chairs, non-slip mats, ramps etc).
Eventually the hope is that Lois will be approved for NDIS which would cover major costs such as her prosthesis and ongoing rehab but in the interim, any contribution would help out her and our family out incredibly. Fortunately, the huge costs of her surgery and parts of her recovery have been covered by the Australian healthcare system and if she is approved for NDIS, she will have access to prosthetics and services, so please don’t feel burdened to contribute financially if you aren’t in a comfortable position to do so and send her your encouragement instead in a message as she really appreciates those! (Or just send good vibes)
