Help Lois Murphy Care for James
Donation protected
James (Jim) Murphy, husband to Lois Murphy and stepfather to children John, Bridget and Matthew Miller, is terminally ill, having been diagnosed with stage four bone cancer in 2020. After battling cancer for four years with chemotherapy and other forms of treatment, he has now reached a point where the physical, financial and mental toll of continuing treatment outweighs any potential expected benefit or prolonging of life, and has therefore refused any continued treatment beyond basic comfort and palliative care.
He is now in hospice and is being taken care of by his wife Lois at home with additional outpatient care as needed. This requires around-the-clock continuous treatment and care, along with significant financial strain for end-of-life care and responsibilities. We would like to raise a relatively modest sum of donations to alleviate some of the stress that accompanies this process, and allow for uninterrupted comfort care treatments and as comfortable an end of life as possible during the final weeks of his life.
Jim served in the Navy for 6 years and was discharged honorably. He worked for 25 years at the Atlantic county justice facility and retired with the rank of Captain. He is an avid fan of the Philadelphia Flyers Ice Hockey team (and collector of miniature Santa Claus statues!)
Any kind of assistance or donation would be greatly appreciated.
