Help Lois Hewitt Fight Aggressive Cancer

My name is Rita Peck and my husband Gary Peck and I are submitting this GoFundMe to raise money to help pay my little sister's medical bills...Lois Hewitt has a very rare and aggressive form of cancer - Adenosarcoma with Sarcomatous overgrowth 1B High Grade...she had to get the cheapest medical insurance she could afford. She had to get some type of minimal insurance in order to just have the surgery done and get chemo treatments... So needless to say, it doesn't cover much. She is going through chemo to try and keep the cancer at bay. She has to get a CT Scan every couple months to see if the cancer has spread. The doctors say there is no cure for her cancer but feel that if it does spread elsewhere, then they may be able to treat that particular location where the cancer migrated to. She has to pay $750 out of pocket for each CT Scan, approximately $1,500 out of pocket for each chemo treatment, plus all the blood tests and medications needed. She is so weak that they need to give her electrolyte treatments to try and raise her levels...$5,000 a session. At the beginning of all this, she had to get a hysterectomy and her out of pocket cost is enormous. She had to pay $9,000 just to get her insurance to kick in for the surgery. The hospital just adds all this to her bill. She has no idea how long this treatment plan will last.

Let me tell you about my brave little sister. We grew up outside Cleveland, Ohio and many years ago her husband Mike and herself said goodbye to everything they had ever known and left Ohio with just what they could fit in their car. That was probably the bravest thing I have ever heard of. They worked their way to Asheville, NC and found a home there. She has worked many jobs, including working at Biltmore, and all seemed to be going well. Then Hurricane Helena hit. Asheville was devastated. In spite of the horrific circumstances, they made it through. However, the stress took its toll. She was diagnosed with cancer, found out there is no cure, and on top of that she got shingles. She is fighting as hard as she can but it is hard. She couldn't work much because the shingles erupted on her face. She had a hard time working on the computer because she has glasses and the blisters made it too painful to wear her glasses. And oh the headaches.....

We know so many people are going through so much misery these days. Life is hard at best. We are praying that you would find it in your heart to help give Lois a better chance to make it through all this mess. She is terrified of this cancer and the bills it brings that she will end up financially devastated. She has always been such a giving person, helping anyone she could that are in need. But now she needs your help......
