This is Logan. Logan is in my sixth-grade homeroom and math class. He was born with a heart condition (linked below) that has limited his physical activity and ability to participate in normal kid things like sports, gym class, or even running up the stairs to class. Now, at the young age of 12, he was required to undergo open-heart surgery on December 10, 2024. Despite his condition and limited activity, Logan is the most positive, pleasant, and wonderful child you could ask to be around. He is truly a light in our class and the most resilient kid I know.

As you can imagine, the cost of surgery, recovery, and continuing medical care will make this procedure extremely expensive. These are costs that the family cannot afford. I was informed that “Christmas has been canceled” because all family funds are going towards this procedure. When I heard this, I knew I needed to try to help this wonderful family and amazing student that I have been blessed to get to know.
