Help Logan Stand Tall: Support His Spine Surgery
Donation protected
Our amazing son Logan has idiopathic infantile scoliosis and will require multiple surgeries. He’s been through so much already and the next step will be his spine surgery (he is having a tether surgery called ASC tethering). Unfortunately, despite having medical coverage, this surgery is not covered.
the surgical procedure requires a tether to be anchored in his spine which pulls the spine upward as he grows.
Since the time Logan was a baby he’s had torso casts called Mehta casts. He did these every 4 weeks for over a year (which required extensive medical visits and anesthesia). Unfortunately, they did not work for him and his spine continued to curve. In addition to the significant curve 120° currently, his ribs are also rotated which can prevent his internal organs from developing properly (esp lungs).
the time is approaching where he needs to have his surgery as he hits a growth spurt. We initially raised 4k for Logan and are hoping to add to now reach his goals (surgery is estimated at 60k) so we can set his appointment.
Logan is the best little guy with an outgoing personality. He often times tells me “I wonder what it will be like to walk when my back gets fixed and I’m not leaning over.” He doesn’t allow his condition to stop him from his activities but he tires out and has pain as well as gastrointestinal issues due to his spine.
He loves animals and his bestie is our rottie Mabel. Often times when he is playing kids will touch his back and ask questions which makes him self-conscious but he has learned to handle this well by replying Deadpool.
we appreciate any help to secure his surgery which we hope he can have after the new year!
