Help Logan Keep Fighting

Donation protected
After being approached by loved ones interested in donating toward our medical expenses, we've decided to create this page.  As you may imagine, even with medical insurance, fighting cancer can be very expensive. With co-pays of over $200 per visit, the bills have started to pile up.  As we try and focus on Logan and his recovery, we are so thankful for any donation we receive, and honored that people have asked us to create this fund.  Below is a bit about what we've been going through and how we’ve gotten to this point.

On March 16, 2018, Logan went into Children's Hospital Los Angeles for an emergency surgery after being in pain for almost 3 days. What we thought was going to be a routine surgical procedure to remove a mass located near his gall bladder was anything but. Obviously, no surgery is "routine," especially with children, but his surgeon made us feel confident that our baby would be just fine. Four hours later, Logan was out of surgery and in recovery, doing just fine. The surgery was a success. The mass that was removed turned out to be a tumor attached to his liver. In consultation with his surgeon, he informed us that the entire tumor was removed, and he was almost certain it was benign, but would need to be sent to the pathologist for testing. Four days later, test results came back and the tumor turned out to be cancerous. Our hearts dropped into the pit of our stomachs. Logan was diagnosed with an undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma of the liver, which is a rare form of cancer in children.  His surgeon informed us that because the tumor had ruptured pre-operation, Logan would need to go through chemotherapy AND radiation to prevent a regrowth of the cancerous tumor elsewhere in his body.

Logan's next steps to recovery consisted of 6 cycles of chemotherapy given in the course of 3-4 months. He started his first round of chemo on March 27, 2018, and would receive 3 days of treatment during each cycle. His cycles were every 3 weeks.

On July 12, 2018, our family was blessed.  After almost 4 months, Logan received his final dose of chemo, and on Friday, July 13th, he got to ring the victory bell at the hospital to commemorate the end of this part of his journey.  Throughout this entire journey, Logan's smile has been unwavering, and his strength is truly something to be admired.  He has been the bravest boy we've known and he's been fighting like a champ.

Logan's next obstacle to overcome is radiation, which he is set to start on July 30th.  This will consist of daily visits to the oncology radiologist for the next 4 weeks.  Just like with chemo, mommy and family will be by his side fighting the fight with him.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Logan and our family thank you so much for your well wishes, thoughts and prayers throughout this difficult time in our lives.
