Help Logan Gain Mobility with a Handicap Van
Donation protected
Logan is 17 and has been wheelchair-dependent since the age of 3 due to complications during birth causing a lack of oxygen resulting in Cerebral Palsy. Despite all his medical challenges and physical limitations, Logan has faced it all with strength and determination, which is an inspiration to us all. He is truly a remarkable young man, and we are all so lucky to know and love him.
I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of Logan's mother (my sister) Angie as she is not one to ask for help. She, along with Logan’s father, gives him an amazing life and does as much as they possibly can for him, but having a child with a lifelong medical condition isn’t something that most parents are financially equipped to handle. When a couple looks at their finances to determine if they can afford a child, they aren't usually taking possible health issues into consideration. Unexpected challenges like this impact the child’s life and the life of anyone who loves them in every single way. The expenses are unbelievable and never-ending. Due to that and the fact that Logan is one of six siblings, buying a handicap-accessible van has just not been feasible. Angie has reached out to other state and local resources for those with disabilities but has had no luck as it is very difficult to get assistance for a vehicle due to the cost.
We are asking for help to make getting a van for him possible. Although we have been blessed with Logan’s health striving, he doesn’t get out and do much because they have no way to transport him and his wheelchair. When he was younger and smaller, we could just carry him or put him in a stroller. Now that he’s 17, this just isn't an option anymore. His wheelchair weighs at least 200lbs and even if multiple people are able to lift and transport him along with the wheelchair, it cannot be disassembled in a way that there is room for it in the vehicle. My sister and all of us that love him just want him to be able to live his best life, and it breaks her heart that the days are passing us by with him missing opportunities. A lot of times, she and the other kids cancel their plans because they feel horrible going without him. It’s not his fault that he was born this way, and leaving him behind just isn’t right. We also know that his health could change at any moment, and he could have to be hospitalized. Aside from that, life is unpredictable, and we don’t know when God’s going to call any one of us home. When God calls Logan home, we want to know that we did everything we could to help him live his best life while he was here on this Earth, and we can’t do that without his wheelchair and a way to transport it and him. That’s why we are asking for help to make getting a van for him possible. I know times are tough for a lot of us right now, so any help would mean more than you know. No amount is too little, whether $5 or $10, it all adds up. We have looked into used, reliable vehicles which would be perfect and most cost around $25,000. If we can get to the goal, that would be fantastic, but if not, we will get as close as we can, and continue to search for other resources and options. We won’t stop until we get him a van so he can start living his best life! Again, we are so very grateful for any support we may receive, and it will mean the world to Logan if we can make this happen!
