Please SHARE my link – I am trying to make my campaign reach as far as it can, hoping it may help my son finish his commercial pilot training. Mother of 4 trying to get her first child through college, and the last portion of funding has become a barrier for my son Logan to complete his program. It's also preventing him from graduating and beginning his future career!!
Logan, is just one phase away from completing his flight training to become a commercial pilot, he only has 2 months left. However, he has hit a snag—he has run out of money, and now he is running out of time! He has maxed out all possible loans, bursaries, funding, and grants, and I have used up all possible resources to help him, but he is still short of finishing. Flight School is so much more expensive than we could have imagined, and the weather and covid have resulted in extra fees and expenses that were not originally budgeted.
Logan has been attending flight college since Sept 2019, and he has done very well so far. He completed all the ground school training (classroom) with excellent grades, and he is currently in the last phase of his flight training. He can almost see the finish line! He has obtained his private license and successfully completed his commercial exam; however, he needs to finish the flight training portion to recieve his commercial license.
This program is extremely expensive (over $70,000 for 2 years) and he has already invested so much time and money, that we can't just waste it. However, he is $10,000 short of completion and time is quickly running out. The flight training has been the most expensive part of this program—every flight, every simulator, every instructor lesson cost Logan upwards of $300+/hour, and because of external variables outside of a student’s control (eg, weather, pandemic, cancellations, delays), these fees are difficult to estimate at the beginning of school, so this extra $10,000 was not included in his original budget. But because the money is now completely drained from his training account, he is currently grounded due to no funds (meaning he can't fly), he isn't allowed to continue until money has been placed into the training account. This needs to somehow happen soon or he will lose this amazing opportunity to become a commercial pilot! The account isn't allowed to sit too long without funds. He isn't able to work while in flight school, as his flight schedule can be sporadic and flights appear without much notice (because it is weather dependant and on the instructors availability).
He is so close to the end, but he has limited time left, and I really want to see my son finish this program! He shouldn't even have to consider walking away unfinished and wasting the $60,000 he has already invested. He loves flying and wants to become a professional pilot, I've never seen him this determined about something, it breaks my heart that we are even experiencing this struggle. I am trying so hard to find a way to break this barrier. He has worked so hard and deserves to become a commercial pilot. He needs to get back in the air as soon as possible.
