On November 21, 2022, Logan had an eye doctor appointment because he thought his eye glass prescription needed updated. He was having difficulty focusing and things looked blurry. At the appointment, the doctor sent Logan immediately to the UC emergency room. He was admitted and went through a myriad of testing over the next two days. The MRI results showed 8 lesions on the Myelin sheath of Logan’s brain. When the myelin sheath is damaged, nerve impulses slow or even stop, causing neurological problems. Early that next week, A spinal tap revealed the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS).
Since then, Logan has had several significant issues with his hands, legs, eye sight and swallowing. He has gone through physical, occupational, and speech therapy, has had 2 infusions and aggressive treatments to tame the flare. UC has the best neurological center this side of the country and we are so fortunate that it is in our backyard. The Doctors have been wonderful and we are greatly appreciative of their care.
Although the symptoms come and go, He is able to work, has had minimal side effects from the treatments and his overall health is good. We are praising the Lord for all of these things!
Although he is managing, medical costs have become a burden and are going to continue to be a burden for a long time. There will be more infusions, prescriptions, deductibles, co-pays and time off of work.
Our goal is to help Logan focus on getting better and not worry about covering medication, doctor hospital bills and debt he has incurred.
We know that everyone is experiencing financial difficulty right now, but, if you see fit to help us ease this financial burden, we would be so grateful.
I have watched Logan’s resiliency to this life-long diagnosis, and I’m in awe. He is the strongest person I know. My heart hurts that he has to deal with this at the age of 23.
We are so thankful for those of you who have prayed for Logan, reached out to us, listened to us and have supported us. Your kindness has gotten us through and we are so thankful. You are so loved and greatly appreciated. Please continue to pray for our Family.
Thank you for your prayers and consideration.
