Hey everyone, I’m Locks. I’m in my mid-30s and work a physical job in a warehouse. I really like bouldering, hiking, going to shows and many other active activities. I’m a big fan of nature in general and really enjoy using my body to explore new places.
I was in an accident earlier this year where I broke my femur and shattered my knee cap and ended up in surgery for 10 hours with several transfusions to put Humpty all back together.
Unfortunately, the hardware that they used to pin things into place has caused a lot of pain and interference with my recovery. There’s bolts sticking out that will need to be removed first and then after recovering from that, I will need to return for a bone graft.
I haven’t been able to return to full time work and my disability ended in June. I have slowly been going back to work as I’ve been getting stronger and continue to go to physical therapy but have been limited by the pain from the hardware. Between living expenses and the medical bills, it’s been incredibly difficult to function with the level of financial stress.
I’ve paid off over $4k of my medical debt so far with about $4.5k to go.
I am waiting for a quotation for the hardware removal and adjustment, but I will have to recover from that and do additional PT before I can even schedule the bone graft.
The fear of something happening and not being able to recover from this in a way that lets me still do the things that I love has put more strain on me than just the financial. I am hoping that you will find it in your hearts to help in any way possible.
All of the money will go towards 1) paying off the existing medical bills 2) paying for the upcoming surgeries, physical therapy and follow up appointments and 3) basic living expenses until I am able to return to work full time. Any remaining will be donated in some way to help give back to someone else who needs assistance.
I’ll update when I get news.
