Help local Firefighter Taylor Selden beat cancer
Donation protected
Please help a local firefighter win his battle with cancer. Taylor Selden has been a firefighter with the City of Cedar Park Fire Department for 17 years, and he has recently been diagnosed with throat cancer. He is lucky to have caught it in its early stages that full recovery is extremely likely. He will be seeking treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Taylor will be receiving daily radiation treatment for several months, which will require him to stay in Houston away from his wife, two young boys, family, friends and fellow firefighters. His recovery from treatment will most likely keep him off the truck for an additional month.
Taylor's cancer is squamous cell carcinoma, and is one of many types of cancers that can be caused by the long list of chemicals found in the smoke of structure fires. Due to the location of the tumor in his throat there can be unfortunate damage to nearby tissues that can cause problems with speech, eating and swallowing, loss of taste, loss of appetite, dental issues, and severe skin rash at the target site. Some of these side effects can be long lasting, and maybe even permanent.
We are asking for help to raise funds to assist with not only the cost of treatment, but also all the expenses associated with travel, food, lodging and recovery.
He has devoted his career to helping his fellow humans, and now he is in need of help. Please pass this along to any and all.
