Help Lobster Bisque get to Edinburgh!

We have created a scandalously farcical puppet show! Inspired by the world of Jim Henson, the plays of Oscar Wilde, and the seminal classic Clue, this play is the culmination of three years of work between our artistic director Witt Tarantino, our puppet performer Emma Rose Creaner, and our company manager Georgia Piano.

The show, Lobster Bisque, is a 50 minute romp through Victorian England. It follows the tenets of any good farce, heightened energy, slapstick physicality, and outrageous characters in over the top situations. And did we mention it was all done with two actors and a menagerie of puppets? Lobster Bisque promises to deliver all the gut busting fun of an Oscar Wilde play while engrossing the audience in a visual feast for the eyes. This show is not just your average farce, we feature new and innovative ways of storytelling, the incorporation of clown work, and fully articulated mechanical puppets, to give a much needed modern interpretation to the age old classic English Farce.

We have funded ourselves between the three of us thus far, but now our ambition has outgrown our pockets. We want this play to look, sound, and feel as brilliant as we know it can be. And then bring that brilliant show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

We need support to get rehearsals off the ground. Any donations made will be going first to materials to build our puppets and our set - we plan to make everything ourselves. Any further donations will go towards a rehearsal space, transportation to and from Edinburgh, and accommodation once we get there.

Company Information:

Brilliant at Breakfast is a collective of up and coming, classically trained artists. We began our work together while in training at the Lir Academy, and have each made strides in our respective art forms since graduating in 2020. We are a multicultural ensemble, with members from England, Ireland, and the United States. Brilliant at Breakfast seeks to blend the classical with the contemporary; redefine what a play can look like. We are curious about merging principles of traditional theater with clowning, puppetry, and beautiful visuals. Beauty is at the heart of everything we do. Our goal is to leave nothing untouched for the audience to see. Every moment is thought about, every costume piece tailored, and every breath extended to provide a fantasy for our viewers to allow themselves to be swept up in.

The core of our company is composed of three classically trained artists, Emma Rose Creaner, Georgia Piano, and Witt Tarantino. Emma is a prolific actor in her own rights, having appeared most recently on the Abbey Stage in Tartuffe. Georgia Piano has worked professionally as both a lighting technician and a stage manager. Based out of New York City where she has worked on various Off-Broadway productions including Black Odyssey at Classic Stage Company and Hell’s Kitchen at The Public Theater. Witt Tarantino is an American actor, writer, and costume designer. A bit of a jack-of-all-trades, Witt's artistic pursuits have led him to starring in various farces, constructing costumes for clown companies, and producing his own self written plays at various festivals in Ireland and the US.

Witt and Emma teamed up in 2020 to produce Don't Kill Spiders at the Reboot Live theater festival in Dublin, Ireland with positive reviews.

Witt and Georgia won two awards for their director/stage manager collaboration at the Contemporary Theater Co. of RI's 24hour play festival in 2023.
