Help Llydia fight Leukemia

Donation protected
It was just another regular day for Llydia Grant playing and enjoying life as all 10 year olds do. Never would we have thought that our niece was immensely ill. She started loosing blood uncontrollably and was rushed to the hospital, this left family members and doctors baffled with the situation.

After many tests, bone marrow scope, and over four blood transfusions, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), in which she was diagnosed with the subtype Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL).  Nothing and no one can prepare you for receiving a diagnosis of leukemia to your 10-year-old daughter, nor can a parent be prepared for such a devastating outcome.

Llydia turned 11 on January 24th and what was to be a day of celebration, turned into the fight for her life. As our family tries to make things seem as normal as possible, we, along with the help from friends have ran several blood donation events due to low supply on the Island of Jamaica.  Another obstacle we are facing is the reality of COVID 19 and many restrictions due to the health and safety risks.

Llydia was transferred to a new hospital two hours away from her home to UWI (University of the West Indies Hospital), one of the more equipped hospitals on the island of Jamaica. The other option will be to find treatment at a private hospital which is extremely costly and especially difficult during the COVID 19 pandemic.

The hospital has started treatment with ATRA-All-trans retinoic acid and Tranexamic acid.

Currently, the cost to have her in the hospital ranges from $500US-$1000US per week.  Unlike the medical system in other western countries, Llydia’s medical treatments are not covered nor is her daily hospital stay.  Payments come directly from family donations, and without adequate financial resources, she will not receive the treatment that she so desperately needs.

It is for this very reason and circumstances why we are reaching out to each of you.  We do know that many people are negatively impacted financially at this time due to the global pandemic, and we are asking everyone to make a sacrificial financial donation to this worthy cause and give what you can.

We have set a goal to raise $50,000.00 to help with the cost of her medical expenses, future medical treatment, and relocation of her dad who has not been able to work since she was admitted to the hospital in December 2020.

This is a difficult time for everyone and many do not have the financial resources. If you are unable to give monetarily, we ask for your prayers for Llydia.  Also, please share, share, share with your family, friends, and social media contacts.

If you can think of any other way in which you can help such as researching treatments etc., please feel free to contact us.

We can't thank you enough.  Your donation is greatly appreciated and our family is extremely grateful for your kindness.
