Help Lizzy Gee Recover from Intense Surgery & Keep Designing

Lizzy Gee is one of the most creative, resilient, and generous souls you’ll ever meet. As the founder/organizer of Impact NYFW and the brilliant designer of their eponymous label, they have brought together thought-provoking fashion, inclusive design, and eco-consciousness in a way that uplifts everyone around them. Their runway shows have given talented, sustainable designers a platform at New York Fashion Week, breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for voices often left unheard in the fashion world.

Unfortunately, Lizzy’s journey has taken a tough turn. After struggling with chronic pain for months—debilitating migraines, stomach issues, and kidney stones—doctors discovered that gallstones the size of golf balls were causing this round of excruciating pain. They had to navigate liver issues which delayed their surgery for a few days, and on January 24th, Lizzy underwent gallbladder removal surgery in hopes of finally finding relief.

However, the road to recovery has been incredibly difficult. The pain was still intense post-op along and was having trouble breathing, yet insurance wouldn't cover the cost of a hospital stay. This left Lizzy to recover at home while immobile, with the help of their amazing roommate and friend, Max. Things escalated when Lizzy came down with the flu and is now at serious risk of pneumonia and an embolism. They are now back in the hospital undergoing days of treatment and observation.

To make matters worse, Lizzy’s beloved 3-year-old guinea pig, Coco, is also ill and underwent various expensive testing and is now on 7 medications. Seems that she has sympathy bladder stones. (update: Coco has passed </3 )

Due to the ongoing pain and financial strain, Lizzy has had to cancel the February Impact NYFW runway show. They are facing the possibility of going into crushing debt from medical bills, and are worried that the financial burden could prevent future Impact shows from happening, affecting their ability to sustain their work and well-being. Lizzy’s work has always been more than just clothes—it’s about creating community, bringing people together, and making fashion a force for good, in a world that so desperately needs it.

This is where we, Lizzy’s loving friends and vast community of Impact collaborators and supporters, come in. We’re asking for your help to support Lizzy as they recover from surgery, cover medical costs, and ensure that their vital work continues.
