Help Lizzette's Fight Against Breast Cancer
Donation protected
In the world of medicine, we often find ourselves on the front lines, battling illnesses, providing hope, and offering comfort. Yet, sometimes the harsh reality of disease strikes closer to home, touching the lives of those who have dedicated themselves to healing others. Such is the story of Lizzette Perez, one of my co-residents at Sea Mar, who, at just 35 years old, is facing a battle she never anticipated.

Lizzette's journey took a dramatic turn in February when she discovered a lump in her breast. Despite having no family history of breast cancer, her instincts told her something was wrong. In the face of initial resistance, she advocated fiercely for herself, pushing for a mammogram and a biopsy. Her persistence paid off, but the results were devastating: triple-negative breast cancer, a particularly aggressive form of the disease.
As if the diagnosis wasn’t enough to bear, Lizzette received this life-altering news in early May, the same week we learned that our residency program was closing down. It was a double blow, shaking the foundations of both her personal and professional life.

Adding to her worries were the concerning lesions found on her lungs. The uncertainty of whether these were metastases loomed large, casting a shadow over her immediate future. In search of support and solace, Lizzette traveled to New York to be with her family. There, surrounded by loved ones, she drew strength from her faith, her determination, and the innocent smiles of her two young sons, Matias and Leandro.

Matias, six years old, and Leandro, just two, are the lights of Lizzette’s life. Their needs and their future are what drive her to fight with every ounce of her being. Despite the fear and uncertainty, Lizzette remains hopeful. Her faith in God, deeply rooted and unwavering, provides her with a sense of peace and resilience.

As a devout Christian, Lizzette’s belief in a higher power fuels her determination. She attends church services, prays with her family, and finds comfort in her community’s prayers and support. Her colleagues, friends, and fellow residents rally around her, offering their support from afar.
Lizzette’s story is one of remarkable courage and unwavering faith. She embodies the spirit of a fighter, not just for herself but for her young sons and the life she envisions for them. Even amidst the turmoil of her diagnosis and the uncertainty of her professional future, Lizzette’s resilience shines through.
Her journey is far from over, and the road ahead is fraught with challenges. But with the love of her family, the support of her friends, and her steadfast faith, Lizzette Perez is determined to overcome. She continues to inspire all of us who have the privilege of knowing her, reminding us of the strength of the human spirit and the power of faith and love.
However, the fight against cancer comes with significant financial burdens. Medical treatments, travel expenses, and ensuring her boys are well cared for during this time are overwhelming. This is why I am reaching out to you for help. Your generosity can make a crucial difference in Lizzette's battle, providing the support she needs to continue her fight with hope and determination.
Every donation, no matter how small, is a beacon of hope and a step towards recovery. Your support will ease the financial strain and remind Lizzette that she is not alone in this fight. Please consider contributing to her GoFundMe campaign. Together, we can help Lizzette continue to inspire us all with her strength, faith, and unwavering spirit.
Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support.
