My sister Lizza is facing an unimaginable time of grief, uncertainty, and displacement. Last night, Lizza lost her beloved companion, Sheba. While grieving that painful loss, she is also facing the uncertainty of the wildfire near her Colorado home. This morning, it appears the fire may have moved through the area where her home is located. Right now, we do not know what she will return to. We are praying that Lizza’s home is still standing. But even if it has survived, she may face smoke, ash, fire retardant, damaged belongings, cleanup costs, and the many unexpected expenses that come with returning home after a disaster. And if her home has been lost, she will need help beginning again.

I am in California, many miles away from my sister, and my heart aches knowing how much she is being asked to carry at one time. While Lizza takes each moment as it comes, I want to do the work I can do from here. I created this fundraiser specifically for my sister, Lizza, to help with her immediate needs and recovery. All funds raised are intended for Lizza’s benefit, and she will determine how best to use them as her circumstances become clearer. Donations may help with temporary housing, food, clothing, transportation, cleanup, replacing essential belongings, animal care, and other recovery needs.
