Hey, y'all. My name is Liz. I'm 42, a grad student in Basel . I've been married for 21 years, have a 13 y/o daughter, and a 9 y/o rescue dog from .

I am writing today about my younger sister. She's 34, trans, and currently unemployed and homeless in Tucson, AZ. She came out as trans "late" in life (in her mid/late-20s) and has had a lot of issues along the way. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that life isn't easy for trans women.

Last year, she lost her job. She then lost her apartment, despite constantly looking for work. She's applying and interviewing, but nothing has gone her way.

Longterm, she'd love to relocate to Chicago, IL, as it's a much safer state for her to live in, but for now, the concerns are feeding herself, feeding her cats, and being able to clean up enough for job interviews, etc. (It's hard to nail an interview when you haven't showered, you know?)

Her list of financial needs are modest; please help her however you can. (If you can't contribute financially, please share this page!)
  • cat food
  • laundry
  • toiletries
  • phone (6 month payment)
  • storage unit (where she's currently living)
  • cloths for interviews
  • access to shower facilities
  • cleaning supplies
  • food for herself

This is one of the last pictures I have of the two of us. It's from October 2018, when I was able to visit family in Seattle, WA, and flew my sis to visit as well.

Our life growing up wasn't easy, and with our age-gap, I have spent a lot of time taking care of my sister in a parental role. It's killing me that I can't fix this situation for her, but I can't. And so I'm humbling asking you all to help me, help her.

Thanks
