Help Liz recover from Brain Surgery
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Michelle Press and I became friends with Liz while she was working at Regis University in Denver, CO.
For those of you who don't know, Liz began experiencing vision difficulties at the end of 2023, steadily worsening until January 2025. The MRI on the left is from 2/2/25 and shows a 2cm by 2 cm mass compressing her optic nerve.
Due to difficulties with insurance approval, improper management of her case from administration employees and battles with other red tape, Liz was not able to get the appropriate neurosurgery consult, evaluation, and timely surgery date. By the end of April 2025, Liz had lost the majority of vision in her left eye, was unable to drive, go to work, and perform activities needed to care for herself and her dog.
With the imminent fear that she would lose the vision in her right eye (already compromised), Liz's doctor arranged for her to be admitted to CU anschutz on 5/1/2025. The scans below were taken upon her admission and you can see that the tumor grew significantly in the 2 months since the scan on 2/25.
Liz underwent surgery to remove the tumor today, 5/6/2025 at 11 am. The goal of surgery is to preserve the vision in her right eye, as it is unlikely that she will regain what she has lost in the left.
I have created this gofund me to help Liz pay for medical bills, lost work time, and any rehab and therapy that she needs. If you know Liz, you know how much of a fighter she is, and she needs some help right now. When I visited her yesterday, she was already making plans to begin racewalking again. I will continue to update as Liz recovers from surgery and begins the rehab process.
