Help Liza & Eric Recover After Eaton Fire Smoke Damage
Beschermde donatie
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
Our hearts are heavy as we share that my sister Liza, her husband Eric, and their dog Lena have been profoundly impacted by the Eaton Fire in Altadena. While they are incredibly grateful that their home is still standing, the damage caused by the high winds and smoke has left them with a long road ahead.
Here’s what happened:
The fierce winds from the fire blew open kitchen, dining, bedroom and office windows, breaking panes in original 1928 glass and allowing smoke to permeate the house. Shingles and tar were ripped from the roof exposing wood and the attic beneath. Ember burns were found on the roof. Wires in the attic were knocked loose and now pose a secondary fire hazard. On top of this, my sister is pregnant and so they are taking extra precautions to ensure her and the baby's health and safety throughout the recovery process.
While they face the daunting task of restoring their home, they will be forced into temporary housing. They thankfully have insurance but anyone who has filed a claim knows that some expenses are not covered, others denied and some may exceed coverage limits.
Even the smallest donation will make a significant difference as they get back on their feet. If you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this page with your network would also be incredibly helpful. Liza and Eric are both dedicated members of the Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team, contributing their skills and expertise to help those in need. Eric has been with the team for over eight years, while Liza has served for over six years. Both have a deep love for their community, which drives their commitment to serving on the team and supporting its mission of providing critical assistance in emergencies.
Thank you so much for your kindness, support, and love during this incredibly difficult time. We are all so grateful to have a community that cares and is willing to help them recover.
With the deepest gratitude,
Kerri
(Liza's sister)
