Friends and family, 

It is with great sadness and continued disbelief that we are urgently asking for your help. Liz first experienced problems in her stride while running nearly five years ago. What started as a minor annoyance, quickly accelerated over the past year and now has taken a devastating turn. This past summer Liz and Bill were confronted with the likelihood that her symptoms were associated with Progressive Muscular Atrophy which was later confirmed to be Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's Disease. Over the winter, normal motor tasks became intensely difficult and Liz lost her ability to walk unassisted. Recently, Liz has been in and out of the hospital and the situation has unfortunately progressed to a point where significant intervention has been required and the need for 24 hour assistance and other extensive technical aid is required. 

Liz, Bill and Zach are now in need of significant financial assistance.  Unfortunately many of the medical costs have not been covered by health insurance including upcoming in-home care needs.   We would be forever grateful for your support as we help Liz, Bill and Zach fight this horrible disease.  

ALS is a nervous system disease that weakens muscles and severely impacts physical function. Reported in fewer than 20,000 cases per year, there is no known cause of ALS and, while medication and therapy can slow progression and reduce discomfort, there is no cure.
