On the evening of January 25, my mother was taken to the ER by my grandma after going weeks with extreme fatigue and pain with no clear explanation. After conducting their medical assessment and reviewing the CT scans taken, my mother's doctors determined she would need an emergency exploratory laparotomy and subsequent surgery based upon the findings. This surgery took place overnight and into the morning of January 26 to correct intestinal malrotation, a rare but life-threatening medical condition in adults. 

Now in the ICU and recovering, Elizabeth "Liz" Shaw faces a long road of rehabilitation to be able to return to being the caring, upbeat mother, daughter, and friend she has always been. As a single mother of four children, she has always been a strong and independent woman to provide for her family and shower them endlessly with love. But now, as she battles to regain this very strength and independence, she relies more than ever on the companionship and support of those around her.

With weeks to months of recovery expected ahead, Liz will need assistance with medical bills, loss of income, and expenses related to rehabilitation. Any donation or prayer that can be made in her name would be greatly appreciated.
