Hello friends (and friends of friends),
On July 1st, my best friend Liz was tragically hit by a car while being picked up at Pearson Airport. She had just returned from a trip to British Columbia, ready to dive into a summer filled with work, sun and fun. In a flash, everything changed.
Liz was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with a severe hip fracture that required an emergency total hip replacement surgery. The impact of the accident and the nature of the injury means her road to recovery will be long and difficult—measured in months, not weeks.
For three weeks, Liz was bedridden at Mt. Sinai, then moved to UHN’s Rehabilitation Hospital for intensive physiotherapy and recovery. She’s been doing everything she can to stay positive, but the challenges are significant—physically, emotionally, and financially.
As a self-employed Professional Organizer, Liz’s work is hands-on and very physically demanding—something she simply can’t do right now.
With no steady income and growing bills, she's now facing financial strain on top of the stress of her recovery. Rent, utilities, groceries, and medical expenses are all piling up.
For those who know Liz, you know how much she’s always shown up for others. She’s one of the most generous, loving, and selfless people in the community. In fact, she specifically chose to have her surgery at a hospital near a friend undergoing chemotherapy—so she could continue to support him, even while recovering from her own trauma.
On top of everything, Liz is also the primary caregiver for her elderly mother.
She would never ask for this kind of help herself—so I’m doing it for her.
If you’re able, please consider donating what you can to help Liz focus on healing—not on how she’s going to pay rent, pay ongoing business expenses, and buy groceries in the months ahead. And if you can’t donate, please share this with your network. It would be greatly appreciated.
Every little bit helps.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
